In powerlifting, a powerlifter can be referred to as either raw or geared up. “Raw” refers to lifting with little to no supportive devices. “Geared up” lifting describes utilizing single-ply or multi-ply suits to support the lifter. The suits are made from a highly tensile fabric that enables the lifter to move more weight, roughly 115% more than their max.
