Previously today, Australian Chris Yip pulled a 305 kg (6724 pounds) deadlift at simply 69 kgs bodyweight. That is the heaviest raw deadlift ever recorded by a powerlifter in that weight class in World Powerlifting (WP)– an international powerlifting federation.
This new world record Yip lifted in sumo was 15 kgs (33 pounds) more than the previous world record of 290 kilograms (6393 pounds) held by Kristos Papanotis, also of Australia. Papanotis struck that lift at the Adelaide Cup on September 7th, 2015 in his home nation, according to Open Powerlifting
